Most Expensive Hot Dog
The most expensive hot dogs in history weren’t exactly special. Sure, they were limited items available for only a few days in Stockholm. Sure, it cost 999 Swedish kronor ($130 USD at the time) to get one. The pricey hot dogs, however, were no better than your average street vendor may sell you.
The expensive hot dogs were part of a United Nations initiative to highlight global poverty. The idea was that, for one of the billion people worldwide who live on less than a dollar a day, paying the standard price of a hot dog would be like your average, comfortably living individual paying $130. These expensive hot dogs were available from in September, 2005, from the United Nations Development Programme’s Nordic Office. They were sold by a number of Swedish celebrities and politicos.

The most expensive hot dog currently available, however, is a different story entirely. The Guinness-certified sausages are sold by Serindipity 3 in New York City’s Upper East Side. The Serendipity Foot-Long Haute Dog was launched on National Hot Dog Day on July 23rd, 2010. The fancy frankfurter is made of beef and grilled in white truffle oil. The bun is salted pretzel bread that has been toasted in white truffle butter. The hot dog is topped with duck foie gras, caramelized Vidalia onions, heirloom tomato ketchup and Dijon mustard. Black truffles are included in both the foie gras and the Dijon mustard.
The most expensive hot dog in the world is priced at a staggering $69 and must be ordered 24 hours in advance.
Serendipity 3 is also the home of the world’s most expensive sundae.

Due to the charms of the owner of the Perfume House, for a while it seemed every perfume lover in Portland had a bottle of Caron Parfum Sacré on her dresser. In the 1990s, if you were lucky enough to be at the store when the owner was there, he might pull you into a tiny side room and ask you to sit on one of the two ice cream parlor-style chairs against the wall. Then, he would present Parfum Sacré, “the greatest memory perfume” and “one of the top 10 fragrances in the world”.
When I heard the story more than a decade ago, I remember the owner, grey suited and speaking with a Europe-tinged accent, gesticulating fervently. Backed by a glass cabinet full of Annick Goutal bottles, he talked about Parfum Sacré’s launch in Portland. At the end of the story he said, “I told them, ‘Wait’,” here he touched his wristwatch, “In 37 minutes—” (or was it 67 or maybe an hour and 47?) “—they will be back. Thirty-seven minutes later so many of them came back to buy the fragrance the police had to close the streets!”
Did the Portland police really turn out to control traffic snarls caused by manic perfume buyers? Who cares? I love a good story told with passion…

Deeply personal and unique
An artistic creation is not consensual by intention but rather by the unpredictable result of a magic conjunction between the individual inspiration of a visionary creator and the public which will progressively come to meet him (and not the reverse). Paradoxically, it’s often when you are deeply personal and unique in your expression that you can reach the universal.
— Perfumer Michel Roudnitska, answering the question “What constitutes art in perfumery for you and how do you envision this in the reality of the fragrance industry?”; read more at Perfumism.

You work hard and slog all day, just to lead a healthy lifestyle and sleep like a dream at night. So opulence to help you rest like a king is very permissible. And if you’re not too good at decorating the house very well, the Rue Royale from the new Le Grand Hotel collection from Ralph Lauren may be the answer to your décor problems. Shaped as a sleigh, the royal looking bed spots amazing details like nailhead trim, British button tufting in the scrolled head and regal lion’s paw feet to bring out a throne-style look from the medieval ages. At $13,350 this one looks like a steal!

After the 2011 Audi A8, the car giant is out with a new luxury car to grace your garage and this time it’s coming straight off the silver screen! The R8 Spyder 5.2 quattro V10 is all set to get out of the Iron Man 2 movie and hit US Showrooms. It comes with a 525-horsepower 5.2-liter V-10 engine that can go from zero to 60 mph in 4 seconds. The car can hit top speed of 195mph.The Spyder comes with an option of a choice of a six-speed manual or seven-speed R tronic gearbox.
A basic model would come to you around $161,000, picking the R tronic gearbox would up the bill to $170,000 plus taxes. But it’s worth your money as the interiors are crafted in a convertible style, the heat-resistant interiors ensure that the car is cooler by up to 68 degrees than normal.

President Obama turns 49, and you are invited to attend his big birthday bash! As per Chicago Sun-Times columnist Michael Sneed, real estate big-wig Neil Bluhm is all set to throw a private birthday bash for the president on the 4th of August. All you need to do is keep a sum of $30,000 ready to donate to the Democratic National Committee to get into the party mood. Looks like this would be a prelude to the actual fund raiser which will be hosted by Mr. Obama officially a day later at Chicago itself. The guest list is yet to come out, but count yourself in as you bring in the change!
