As we Americans celebrate the beginning of our nation on Independence Day, I think it’s appropriate to focus on that most American of sports, baseball. Long identified — along with motherhood and apple pie — as the quintessence of America, baseball continues to hold an eminent position in the United States. Baseball phrases (“Three strikes and you’re out!” or “Step up to the plate!”) pepper our speech. Major League Baseball is a multibillion-dollar industry. Baseball heroes like Lou Gehrig, Jackie Robinson and Babe Ruth are instantly recognizable figures. And every little community seems to have its own baseball field, even if it’s only an empty lot with four rubber mats serving as bases.
I came to the appreciation of baseball later than many people do: soon after I married my husband, I realized that I had actually promised to “love, honor, and allow him to watch baseball on TV,” whether that wording was technically in the ceremony or not. Thanks to diligent spousal coaching, I’ve learned the rules and guiding principles of baseball, as well as some strategy, alongside our kids, and I love going to games. I say confidently that baseball is great if you understand what’s going on. Also, no matter how interesting the actual game is, it’s always rewarding to immerse your senses in the setting of the game.

Part of the designers GT series, this watch features a central tourbillon, power reserve, machined titanium casing and a neoprene strap while the tachometer needle has a three star-shaped emblem that reflects the brand. What is more, the bracelet of the watch again evokes the beauty of the super car by opening and closing like the car’s gullwing doors. What is more, the watch features two buttons (Open / Close) surrounding the crown that can open and close the car remotely. The sleek timepiece would make for the perfect accessory for the SLS AMG owner.
Until this concept watch becomes a reality however, owners of the super car will have to make do with other luxury timepieces.

The solution includes, freezing your brains until the evolution of such future technology that will allow the brain to be transplanted into a new body and resuscitated. KrioRus believes the brain operates like a computer hard-drive and its contents can be frozen and stored for the future. Sounds freaky? Not to all. The company reportedly already has stored four full bodies and eight people’s heads in liquid nitrogen-filled metal vats.The fee for freezing the brain is $10,000 dollars while the full body freeze is priced at $30,000.
While a few are kept at home by their client’s relatives, most are lumped together in containers at the firm’s rusting warehouse. Danila Medvedev, who runs KrioRus says, “You would just need to launch their hearts… then you have a person who is living again”. He further adds, “Once you can do that kind of nano-surgery at the cellular level… you can take a person from cryo-stasis; warm him up gradually and then he will be alive.”
The company that was launched in 2005 and has 30 clients, who wish to have their brains or bodies frozen, is deemed to be a fraud by many. But until nano-technology is developed further we will never know whether this was a scam.
